Vibrio diabolicus is a Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic, curved rod of the family Vibrionaceae, originally isolated from a polychaete annelid near deep-sea hydrothermal vents on the East Pacific Rise. It is notable for producing a novel exopolysaccharide (HE800) with structural similarities to hyaluronic acid, which has biomedical applications in bone and tissue regeneration. V. diabolicus has a bipartite genome typical of vibrios and carries genes for thermotolerance and heavy-metal resistance reflecting its extreme-environment origin.

These thresholds are based on 8 genomes from RefSeq and 137 genomes from other sources. These thresholds were applied to all the bacteria dataset, which resulted in removing 10 and retaining 135. The list of genomes retained (i.e. high quality) and the list of genomes rejected (filtered) can be downloaded below. These files are in .xz format. The rejected genomes file also includes the reason why.

This should be linear – as genome size increases, the number of coding sequences should also increase. Any secondary trend lines or non-linear behaviour indicates bona fide separate populations within the retained genomes or some remaining contaminant.
